Track 4 of 'Requiem for the Earth' by Linda Entwistle/Epiphany

lyrics

They live and die and every day sees death.
The images are there before their eyes.
When there is tragedy occurs on earth.
They bow their heads; they cannot bear the cries.
Then they turn away – then they turn away.

People are displaced
and driven from their homes
through famine, earthquake, flood and civil riot.
The ravaged earth must make her feelings known;
She trembles from the oceans to the heights.
Can you feel her pain – can you feel her pain?

If only my people would care for her,
tend her, make her garden grow.
Instead they have defiled the ground
on which they walk.
They take but don’t give back,
They spoil but make no amends,
And every war fought takes a chunk
out of her heart. (of her heart . . .)
