Track 6 of 'Requiem for the Earth' by Linda Entwistle/Epiphany

lyrics

Quid sum miser tunc dicturus.
Quem patronum rogaturus.
Cum vix justus sit securus !

Who shall plead on my behalf?
It seems my actions haven’t been enough
to deliver my heart from pain;,
to free me from myself
and all that I have sought to gain.

We all come to the same fate;
good and bad, high and low estate.
Men’s love can’t make us happy,
nor can any wealth.
We simply cannot free ourselves.

Quid sum . . .

Only the Priest, the Great High Priest
can release you from your sentence of death.
He became the Lamb who sacrificed himself;
He alone can plead of your behalf.

Quid sum . . .

King of Salem, King of Peace
has gone through to the heavenly place.
Although He is God’s son,
He knows that we are weak.
Through Him we can find mercy and grace.

Quid sum . . .

And on the cross His dripping blood
Is a memorial to Him who through His love
for creation, and through His pain
washed it clean again
with life that flowed from every vein.
